On Sunday, September 12th, Historic Oakwood will be hosting a memorial event for those who have lost loved ones to COVID-19.

Guests are invited to participate in the Grove of Remembrance, a place where families and individuals can inscribe a ribbon with the name and memories of their loved one and tie it to the limbs of our crepe myrtle grove in the front lawn.

We believe that the ribbons create a beautiful spectacle while also sharing the community spirit cultivated here at Oakwood Cemetery.

This memorial event is the first of its kind at Oakwood Cemetery and we are honored to facilitate this community in celebrating the lives of those gone too soon due to COVID-19.

The event will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM, accompanied by music performed by NC Symphony’s Anita Burroughs-Price.

The event is free and open to those who have experienced loss due to the coronavirus pandemic.
