Please join us at Historic Oakwood Cemetery for a Bird Walk on August 21st. In partnership with Marti Kane, Wake Audubon Society Education Committee member, you will have the opportunity to observe many of the cemetery’s feathered friends such as bluejays, robins, woodpeckers, mourning doves, mockingbirds, hawks, and possibly some migratory flocks of neotropical species. Historic Oakwood Cemetery is on the Carolina Bluebird Trail, providing ample opportunity to observe them within the cemetery.

We offer this experience in exchange for a suggested donation of $5 to help support our efforts to maintain a healthy and abundant habitat for all our beloved bird species.

Arrive at 8:45 AM on Saturday, August 21st. Limited parking is available at the front office, with additional parking on neighborhood streets in the Historic Oakwood Neighborhood.

Participants will meet Marti at the front office before the bird walk begins at 9 AM.

Please dress accordingly, you will be traversing large spans of the cemetery, paved and unpaved. Bring binoculars in order to get the most out of your experience. This event is for ages 16 and up.

If the walk is postponed due to weather, the bird walk will be hosted the following Saturday, August 28th.
