Oakwood and the Gettysburg Dead

In recognition of the 163rd anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg join us for a tour of civil war graves.

Tickets are a $10 donation per person (donations contribute toward monument preservation)

Have you ever wondered how our Gettysburg dead found their way back to North Carolina? Hear about death care for civil war veterans, learn how they identified civil war dead and who was responsible for their care when they arrived home.

This tour will start at the Oakwood cemetery office and we will spend about an hour on the grounds.

What to bring:
– Water
– Weather appropriate clothing
– Questions about local history, the cemetery, and the death industry.
