DESCRIPTION:Plein Air Drawing and Painting  \nJoin Program Coordinator and Artist Brianna McCormick the first Thursday of every month rain or shine to draw in Plein Air at Oakwood Cemetery. \nThis event is free and designed for artists of all ages and skill levels. \nWe will meet at the office at 9am and walk together to our location for the day. Bring water\, a chair or blanket and your favorite art supplies\, be prepared to observe and discuss monumental art\, cemetery flora and fauna\, in addition to our panoramic vistas of the city of Raleigh.

This monthly event is intended to appeal to first time and dedicated visitors alike.\nAttendees will explore a new section of the cemetery each month. Your guide will share new research as well as old stories not told on our more structured tours.\nStroll through history is a small group tour\, last minute changes to curriculum and route to meet group interests and ability are expected and welcome.\nWhat to bring:\n– Water\n– Weather appropriate clothing\n– Questions about local history\, the cemetery\, and the death industry.\nIf you have any questions\, concerns or if you would like to schedule a private tour for you and/or your family please contact Brianna McCormick at bri@historicoakwood.com or by phone 919-832-6077.
