SUMMARY:Read in Peace Book Club: A club for the living to discuss the dead
DESCRIPTION:Hello R.I.P. Book Club\, \n\n    To complement our May title\, The Relocation of Vesta Blonik\, we will be meeting at Dorthia Dix Hospital this week. Woo Hoo!\n\nI put out feelers for a tour guide and the author\, but was unable to find someone for us for Thursday. I am still planning to add a tour of Dix to our calendar; I will send a note as soon as I have a date and time. \n\nFor this Thursday May 21st\, let’s plan to meet at 10am\, the Magnolia Room shelter which is close to the Cemetery and the sunflower field. Initially I thought the House of Many Porches would be a great place to sit\, but the weather is a little iffy for Thursday and we may be grateful for the shelter. \nRead in Peace Book Club at Historic Oakwood \nA club for the living to discuss the dead\nOakwood Read in Peace book club meets on the third Thursday of each month. Join us at 10am in the House of Memory to discuss our most recent book\, bring your coffee and a curious mind.\nThis group is free and open to all. Didn’t read the book? No worries\, stop by and enjoy the conversation.\nEvent signs will be posted to direct attendees\, make sure you arrive via our Oakwood Ave entrance. \nWhat are we Reading Summer 2026? \nMay\nThe Resettlement of Vesta Blonik\, Denise Smith Cline \nJune\nSomebody is Walking on Your Grave\, Mariana Enriquez \nJuly\nI See You’ve Called in Dead\, John Kennedy \nAugust\nThe American Way of Death Revisited\, Jessica Mitford \nHave a book suggestion?\nWe are currently working on our book list for the next quarter and would love to hear your recommendations. We are particularly interested in your favorite books related to local history\, the death industry\, cemeteries\, and monumental art.\nPlease email Program Coordinator Brianna McCormick with any suggestions\, questions\, or concerns. Bri@historicoakwood.com
